Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center, Alpena, MI
The Maritime Heritage center is a very nice little museum dedicated to remembering the lost men and ships in the area. It has a lot of recovered artifacts from various wrecks that you can see and a partially recreated ship you can walk through. It does a great job of cataloging the wrecks from over the years. We were amazed that there had been so many people killed and so many ships lost in this area.

There's also a glass bottom boat tour located right across the street should you want to go see some of the wrecks yourself!
It is well worth the stop if you are traveling the east side of Michigan!
